Informatics Sector and Effects On World Economy

When we observe the rapidly developing and strengthening countries in terms of technology, the role played by the information sector in the acceleration can be easily noticed. Informatics and technology are now combined in our thoughts as concepts that cannot be considered independently of each other.

When we examine only the last twenty years, we can easily see that companies in the IT sector have risen very rapidly and have a very large share in the country's economy. The biggest reason for this is; the only sector that can be a solution to the problems related to activities in all sectors and that can respond to development in the same way is the information sector. In short, informatics; has a structure that completes the deficiencies and accelerates the current situation for all activities carried out, including our daily lives. Today , where we compete with time, informatics, which can create solutions for us regardless of the subject, has become an indispensable concept that we constantly mention for both our social and business life.

Due to very wide area it addresses, the IT sector has also found the opportunity to develop itself by constantly renewing itself, and thanks to its versatility, it has succeeded in making profits by investments made to it quickly. Today we know that; The influence of a country on others depends not only on its technological power, but also on its economic strength along with technology. It is thought that the system that will lead a country forward economically are corporate structures and earnings that aim high profitability with large investments. On the other hand, the fact that studies on informatics do not require expensive investments, the raw material is knowledge and creativity, and the sectors that it can address are unlimited.

In the information age, ; growth, competition, employment, and their share in world economy of countries depend on their superiority in the field of informatics and technology. Science and technology have a great impact on development and productivity on countries. Looking at USA, they managed to grow, lowered their inflation and minimized unemployment despite the economic stagnation and negativities experienced in other countries of the world in the 1990s. While other countries are trying to fight inflation and unemployment, USA has provided great added value to the country's economy through its initiative in informatics and technology.

Another success story related to the IT sector; belongs to the countries of India, Ireland and Israel, which are called 3 I in the world. Realizing the importance of informatics sector and recognizing  the gap in it , they had a large share in software and service products market by making necessary investments with the support of government. We can clearly see the added value that informatics provides to national economy in developing countries in line with these three.

How did recently established IT companies, with a history of at most 7 years, exceed the value of centuries-old giant industrial companies by several times, and the added value they have provided to the country's economy has become indisputable? So, how can these companies, which do not have a long history in the IT sector, get ahead of the industry giants that are almost a century old? Do you know why? Because; We are now in the transition phase from “Industrial Society” to “Information Society”. "Transform to Information Society" studies initiated by European Union and the importance of information technologies in the world are increasing day by day. Factory and material production is no longer the main basis of country's economy. In informatics age, information and service products have gained importance and material production has left its place to the production of ideas.

Those who follow the world agenda know; In February of this year, US President Barack Obama had a meeting with ten billionaires of Silicon Valley. The agenda and discussions of the meeting were ; education, R&D studies, employment and directing young people to technological studies and engineering . Although the meeting's agenda was widely about informatics sector, it was watched carefully by all sectors and investors regardless of the subject. The companies represented by the managers at the table were companies that were well known not only by America but also by the whole world. The eyes of the whole world were turned to the IT sector in a commercial sense with the phrase "One Trillion Dollar Table". The whole world reviewed the published company turnovers and the stock market values of the companies. It was investigated how much investment was made and which turnovers were reached in such a short time. In conclusion; It has been clearly noticed by the whole world that one of the biggest economic investments of the future is the informatics sector.

How big is a trillion dollars, perceived as just an expression, in material terms? What Does a Trillion Dollar Mean for Türkiye? For this, we can make an example from the biggest 500 companies of Turkey in 2010. As a result of the research conducted by Fortune Magazine; the total turnover of the first 500 companies of our country is as 294 billion 464 million dollars. To simplyfy ; The total turnover of the 10 leading IT companies in America is three times more than the total turnover of the first 500 companies of our country. While the turnover of the company which is in the first place among the top 500 companies in our country, is approximately 16 billion dollars; the fact that only Facebook's turnover is 50 billion dollars on its own provides a clear understanding of the issue in financial terms. According to TUIK figures; 2010 gross national product of our country is 1 trillion 105 billion 101 TL. On the other hand, the annual turnover of 10 leading IT companies in America is 1 trillion dollars.

In this situation; Without wasting time, Turkey should understand the importance of the information sector and take its place in the sector by starting the necessary studies quickly. Our country is among the countries that can be successful both in terms of geological and social structure in the world informatics sector. The raw material required to produce information and technology for all segments of the sectors are intelligence, knowledge and creativity. The most important capital of the IT sector is educated people. The greatest resource of our country, which has a young, dynamic population, is intelligence and human power. We do not need a new source of energy, raw materials, or trillion-dollar machines. We must determine our strategies and create our vision as soon as possible. We must give importance to innovation and R&D studies. In conclusion ; we should say "We are here too" to the world informatics sector.

We should should use the importance of our country's geopolitical position, determine our policies and strategies in both domestic and foreign markets, carry out imports and exports at the same time, and receive the necessary incentives and support through the state. We need to make our country an exporter of technology , not an importer.

As AKINSOFT;  we achieved a lot with the slogan “Feel the Blue Power”. First, we determined our own vision and strategies, then grew, became a brand and expanded our activities to foreign market. We did all of this using only our own capital, we did not receive any support. We believed, we set our goals and we succeeded.

Türkiye; just believe, "Turkey's Future Will Be Shaped by Informatics".
