Artificial Intelligence With Reflections on the Business Life and Its Social Effects


Intelligence must be considered as ‘’ability to process data’’ so we can attribute to artificial intelligence better. In the point we are today, modern computers can process data better compared to human even if they still have no interpretation ability.

What are the needs of the individuals or the masses, what are the qualities or the weaknesses of the product, what kind of problems we encounter in what kind of situations? As these questions remain, only analysing is not being enough. In some situations interpretation is a must so artficial intelligence concept started to appear. The machines can interpret today, can gather the data collected and create a common data synthesis, therefore can predict faster than a human by learning these all. So what does that exactly mean? That means that artificial intelligence should take part in social management… Yes, the world is talking and discussing about this right now. No doubt, these projects should be considered, I support to the end. I keep posting through social media as well. Moreover, this message is fixed on my Twitter; “Should an artificial intelligence be the mayor of our town in the next local elections?” A few months after I posted this message, we all saw, for a municipality in Japan,an artificial intelligence running for mayor. That was such a pleasing and nice progress. People think; ‘’How can an artificial intelligence handle a mayor’s tasks?’’ I’ll give you more examples; What does a mayor do?

A mayor check up on the inputs, plans the investments and while doing these plannings he has to listen to the corresponding masses. How can he listen? ‘’What does this city really need?’’ this is the question a mayor looks for the answer all the time. Now, is it something that a human can do better or a system that is able to interpret through correct data statistics designed by the information gathered from the surveys and even can get feedbacks from social media? Undoubtfully, such an artificial intelligence’s existence…

 

Today’s technology is ready for it. I mean, today’s technology is able to rule a city… Also, the same for a company. What does a chairman of board do? Listens to management first. It is not possible to listen all of the personnel due to addressing hundreds of people. Thereby, it is not possible to access correct data due to getting the data filtered. A lot of relevant data is prepared through marketing research. Decision is made by the reports a human prepared. Someone says; we want access to that part or that field. What if that field is not ready for you? Can people analyse it better or a social network by artificial intelligence? Artificial intelligence can decide easier in a marketing field through analysing data. I assume that many companies have been implementing this. Today you start a system in your facility and everything depends on ERP. It is not Managers or the chairman of board who rule a big factory; it is the ERP system.

 

System tells you when to start your product procurement. Because 500 different products arrives. You buy from 500 suppliers, and the timing is very important. ERP is now partially interpreting and making some decisions. It says, you need to order your goods from that supply chain in that time period. This is a decision mechanism. We see this in Human resources management too. For instance, there are people who have annual leave accruals. The system will tell you; ‘’15 or 150 personnels who are on this department or this service can take annual leave according to the work status.’’ This will take long for a normal person to do it with the right decision. What did the system do in this situation? It handled the tasks we call as product management , production management or production chief.

 

This is manner of rule. When we look at the world, many companies and countries have been admiting this. Some countries and many companies in our country, unfortunately, prefer the traditional ways and they are not ready for the modern concept. Why are they not ready yet? Unfortunately they have some fears and worries. What kind of fears? ‘’Will I trust someone from information technology sector?’’ idea is dominating. After a quite while, necessarily, all the companies will be obliged to surrender to artificial intelligence. Otherwise they will have to disappear. It has to be because the world is getting smaller day by day. As the aircraft industry, telephone and internet developing, competative market is growing and in the meantime the world is trustifying. That means it goes to the one system only. After some time, competition will not exist anymore. A product will be controlled and produced by a trustified company or holding companies. Competition will be totally dissappeared.

 

How? Developing and trustified companies already have been following high technology and adaptating to this process fast. The most obvious examples of these companies are German companies. Those German companies started their operations in the Middle East and the Far East due to expensive human resources after starting to sell goods to the world. They moved their factories to the Far East completely since the labor is cheaper. Now, with the 4th Industrial Revolution, windowless factories appear. It means the facilities that there is no working human inside, generated with robotic systems all the way and decisions are made by artificial intelligence.

 

Furthermore this factory is not only one in the world, they are located around the world and interacting with each other.
A generation later, people will be no longer occupied with trade, production, delivery and so on. Artificial intelligence will have been finding out what people need by analysing automatically.
It is wrong to consider this as good or bad for people. Because the future is already on its way and it is not possible to avoid. Technology has always been in human history and always brought wellfare. So we cannot say ‘’Oh, a bad thing is rising’’ for technology. Human will no longer exist 200 years later. As I stated several times before, ‘’the Last Age’’ has started in 2015. We are evolving. That means today’s notion of living being, the biological notion will change. Therefore we face a new notion: Transhumanism…
However you call it; human is becoming Android or something else. We are now able to fit bionic arm or leg for the amputated arm or leg. Everyone admits it. Artificial heart is produced in Turkey now. There comes more, muscle system and artificial blood can be produced. As we see, everything a human needs, almost whole body organs can be produced in a way. Making artificial cell is also on the nail but it is not literally out of the word of ‘’living’’. And it is another topic. What I say is the definition of ‘’living’’ is completely changing. In fact, a new human concept is appearing, which is gradually mechanized, androidized, working by another energy type that we call biological energy.

It is already frequently being mentioned that people who will live in a big city which will be created in Arabia and completed in a short time, will have lifetime for 250-300 years. According to some scientists, scientific researches on longer lifetime -up to immortality- are running recently. We cannot name it immortality maybe but we can call it change or evolution of human.
When we review this topic with regard to our country; we unfortunately have a culture that we enjoy criticizing ourselves as a society. But I must indicate that we are not far behind the world in terms of electronics, mechanics and software. We are behind a few years only. As long as our scientists are given the necessary opportunities. I am saying this in behalf of our own scientists raised in Turkey. I have a small foundation and Ozgur AKIN is a small individual.

 

This matter is not a matter of an individual or a foundation, but a matter of country. There are studies within our universities and several companies. I and many fiends of mine set our hearts on this mission. I am hoping that a bright future is awaiting us.
